
The Institute for Economic and Public Policy launches a call for young researchers, economists, PhD candidates, master’s students and early-career specialists interested in contributing to an applied study on the position of Romania’s economy within the European economic architecture.
The study will examine the relationship between Romania’s economic autonomy, its connection to the European economy and the possibility of deep European integration.
The research will approach the topic from the perspective of the real economy: citizens’ prosperity, labour income, the development of Romanian companies, access to finance, investment capacity, profitability and entrepreneurial competitiveness.
What connected economic autonomy means and what deep European integration means.
The extent to which Romania is connected through trade, exports, imports, capital, labour, regulations, investment and European value chains.
Who controls key economic sectors, where decisions are made and how much capital remains available for the development of Romanian companies.
How interest rates, bank lending, capital markets and investment funds influence the ability of Romanian companies to grow.
How energy costs, transport, logistics and infrastructure affect Romania’s capacity to produce competitively.
How the economic model influences citizens’ income, the quality of jobs and company productivity.

The selected researcher will prepare a study of approximately 30–50 pages, including:
The study should be written in a clear, rigorous and accessible style, so that it can be used both in academic and economic circles and in the public debate.
For the completion of the study, the Institute for Economic and Public Policy will provide a fixed project honorarium of:
Payment will be made under a collaboration contract, according to the stages and deliverables agreed with the selected researcher.
